Lake Ridge Elementary’s Art Program
Throughout the school year, students will use a variety of materials to create their projects. We will be using markers, paint, oil pastels, clay, and yarn just to name a few. As we create, students will learn about the art elements of line, form, texture, space, and value. We will also discuss artwork from different cultures around the world, what jobs artists have in our society, and how art has changed over time.
Each student has their own artistic style and talents. The art room is meant to be a space where students can express themselves and learn how to make art in new and exciting ways.
We are on a 4 day rotation this year! Our schedule is:
4th grade - 9:05-9:50
3rd grade - 9:50-10:35
5th grade - 10:35-11:20
2nd grade - 12:05-12:50
1st grade - 12:50-1:35
Kindergarten - 1:35-2:20
On the day your child has art class, please send them to school in clothes that it are okay to get dirty. We will be using paint, clay, oil pastels, and many more materials that can make us a bit messy.
I have collected a bunch of old newspapers, paper towel rolls, bottle caps, and plastic bottles over the summer but I can use your help! If you have any of these items lying around your home, please bring them in to the art room!! I love using recycled materials for our projects and teaching Lake Ridge students the importance of re-purposing items instead of throwing them away.
