New Kids Group: (Grades 1-5) – This group meets once a week for three weeks. Students will get acquainted with other new students and learn more about their new school.
Great Heights: (Grades 3-5) For students who have parents, siblings and/or other family relatives serving in the military and could benefit from peer support. Those who are currently deployed or have been deployed previously will have the opportunity to share their common feelings and experiences.
Banana Splits: (Grades 1-5) A support group to help students learn healthy ways to deal with transitions in the family due to divorce or separation, and how to adjust to living with stepparents/siblings.
Girls Group: This group will meet weekly. Your child will have a safe and supportive environment to openly discuss issues such as friendship, communication, self-image, and understanding emotions.
School Success: (Grades 3-5) Group will meet once a week to focus on the importance of attending school promptly everyday and how it impacts life-long learning.
If you are interested in having your child participate in a group, please let us know. We can send a parent permission form home with your child so he/she can return the form to Miss Johnson’s mailbox. Your child will be met by Ms. Johnson or Ms. Atkins either in their classroom or in the cafeteria and the students will bring their lunches to the Guidance Office. Students must return their permission forms to participate in a group. Preference will be given to students recommended for the group by their classroom teachers.
Don’t Pop Your Cork: (Grades K-5) To help students identify the anger warning signals and develop healthy effective ways of coping with various situations.
Olympic Champions: (Grades K-5) Emphasis on social skills, making and keeping friends and social awareness. Participants engage in role playing, group interaction and cooperative games to emulate social situations.

Rising Stars: (Grades 3 & 4) Students will learn to utilize/apply their learning style, develop good study skills and test taking strategies as well as focus on the importance of staying organized and on task. They will support each other by helping to remember to complete and turn in class work and/or homework assignments.
