Bonjour! I’m April Worthington and I am passionate about sharing the beauty of the French language and culture. This year, I look forward to guiding students on a journey through multiple francophone countries, exploring their rich traditions and diverse perspectives.
About the LRES French Program
World Languages instruction in French at Lake Ridge Elementary School is offered to students in grades K-5. Students receive at least 45 minutes of instruction every 4 days.
Through this program, all students develop basic communication skills in the target language while gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Instruction is guided by the five goal areas of the National and Virginia World Language Standards: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. These standards serve as the foundation for learning experiences that are integrated across multiple content areas.
Early exposure to world language learning provides students with a strong foundation for future language study, while also fostering cultural awareness, global competence, and lifelong learning skills.
