Abigail E. Martinez

Dear Lake Ridge Elementary Community,  

I am thrilled to be joining your community as the principal of Lake Ridge Elementary! I am excited to join this wonderful school and community, and I cannot wait to meet everyone. 

I have a passion for education and believe ALL children can learn and be successful. Helping our students reach their thriving futures is important work, and I feel honored to partner with our amazing staff and families as we strive for this goal. I will ensure that all feel safe, welcomed, and encouraged when they walk through our doors. I have been an educator for 18 years, serving as a preschool teacher, speech-language pathologist, and assistant principal. Most recently I was the assistant principal for the elementary level at The Nokesville School in PWCS. It will be a privilege to continue the excellent work being done at Lake Ridge Elementary.   

My education includes: a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico in communicative disorders, a master's degree in speech language pathology and audiology from East Carolina University, and a graduate certificate in educational leadership from the University of Mary Washington.  

My husband and I love spending time with family, especially with our three kids who are all young adults now. We are a military connected family, and we moved to Virginia several years ago compliments of the U.S. Marine Corps. We liked it so much we decided to stay and make Virginia our family’s home. 

Families, you are our partners in this journey, and I look forward to getting to know each of you. I believe in open communication, collaboration, and the power of community. I cannot wait to meet the amazing children you share with us as we embark on this exciting adventure. I am committed, with our staff, to providing a high-quality education to all students, along with a foundation of love, hope, kindness, and encouragement.  `
