Technology Support for Families and Students

Student iPads for 2025-26

We’re thrilled that Lake Ridge students are using iPads!  These devices open up countless opportunities for students to engage with their lessons in dynamic, digital ways. iPads are intended for schoolwork, reading and listening to books, practicing math, conducting school-related research, creating and sharing learning, and completing other assignments. Chargers will not be going home as the student iPads should keep its charge overnight.  At school, we have talked about how students should use their devices. Please make sure you have a similar discussion with your child and monitor that your child is using the iPad appropriately.

Each student has been assigned an iPad and has a charger. Each student must return their equipment at the end of the year. As a reminder, under Regulation 350.02-2, students are responsible for reimbursing the School Board for actual breakage or destruction of property, or for the failure to return property owned by, or under the control of, the School Board. Student iPad models and cases may vary by grade level.

To get on their iPad, students will need to know their passcode, student email address, username (which is the first part of their email address), and password. The goal is for students to know this information, but some may be using an aid to access their iPad. One aid for students in kindergarten – 2nd grade only is a PWCS Portal badge (a student-specific QR code). Teachers often send this, ClassLink Quick Card, home with students when the device comes home. If you need them, please ask your child’s teacher.

Login to PWCS Portal at Home
  1. Go to https://launchpad.classlink.com/pwcs , or on a tablet or phone you can download the ClassLink app.
  2. Kindergarten - 2nd grade: Log in with ClassLink badge; 3rd-5th graders: Log in with your PWCS username and password.
  3. Locate the app you want to access. There are activities to promote reading, math, science and social studies skills that students already have practiced using in the classroom!

Office 365 is the group of apps used by PWCS staff and students that contains their email (Outlook) and a suite of other useful tools like Word, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive. All PWCS students have access to Office 365, but only students in grades 3 and up have access to email.

To log-in to Office 365 from a school-issued iPad, find the correct app on their device and click on it. If your student is asked to log-in, remember they will need to enter their entire username, including the @pwcs-edu.org at the end.
